Popular Nollywood actress Aisha Lawal has firmly denied swirling rumours that she received a Venza car gift from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) president, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

In an exclusive chat on Biola Bayo’s podcast, the actress refuted the claims as entirely false, suggesting the entire situation might be a deliberate attempt to smear her reputation or mislead the public. A visibly disappointed Lawal said she was baffled by the origin of the rumour and the motive behind it.

“I wonder if it was a setup or if the man smoked weed to claim that MC Oluomo collected Venza from him and gifted me,” she said during the podcast. “I have regard for MC Oluomo because he has done so much for people that I know. But I did not collect any car from him.”

The statement comes amid growing online chatter and social media whispers linking the actress to the Lagos transport boss, with several netizens speculating that the Venza was part of a romantic or patronage-based gesture. Lawal, however, dismissed the insinuations, urging people to respect her name and journey in the industry.

“Common, you have to add some respect to my name because I suffered before I made money. I did not drive Venza; it’s not even a car I like. I drive a GX 460,” she declared confidently.

Beyond clearing the air on the luxury car rumour, Aisha Lawal took the opportunity to reflect on her own path to financial stability. She disclosed that her journey had been anything but smooth, recalling how resilience, talent, and timing came together to pave her way to success.

According to Lawal, she experienced a financial breakthrough during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that was tough for many but unexpectedly profitable for her. “I made ₦10 million in one week during the lockdown,” she revealed, citing her work in film production and digital marketing deals as the primary sources of her income.

The actress has long been known for her roles in Yoruba-language Nollywood films and has gradually evolved into a respected producer and entrepreneur. Her financial independence, she says, is the result of years of sweat and strategic reinvention.

The controversy has sparked a flurry of reactions from both fans and industry colleagues. While some online users initially believed the rumour, many have now rallied around Aisha Lawal in support, praising her for addressing the issue with poise and clarity.

Entertainment industry insiders say the incident is part of a larger trend where female celebrities are often targeted by false narratives suggesting that their wealth must be linked to influential men, instead of acknowledging their own achievements.

“Aisha has always been hardworking. I’m glad she’s speaking up because women in Nollywood face unfair scrutiny all the time,” one film director told this reporter.

Interestingly, MC Oluomo has not issued any public statement regarding the claims or the actress’s denial. Known for his close association with the entertainment scene and for occasionally gifting cars to actors and public figures, this silence has only intensified public curiosity.

However, Aisha Lawal made it clear that while she respects MC Oluomo’s contributions to society, no such transaction occurred between them.

The incident adds to the growing discourse on the harm that unfounded rumours can inflict on public figures. With the rise of gossip blogs and social media sensationalism, celebrities like Lawal are increasingly forced to go public with personal clarifications just to protect their integrity.

“This is exactly why I don’t take everything on social media seriously,” one fan tweeted. “People make up stuff for likes. Glad she cleared the air.”

For Aisha Lawal, the car controversy appears to be just another challenge she is ready to rise above. By asserting her truth and highlighting her self-made success, the actress is not only defending her brand but also setting an example for younger female stars navigating the turbulent waters of fame in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
