Hon. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan, the member representing Suru Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has taken a significant step toward enhancing agricultural productivity and promoting food security by organizing a capacity-building workshop for rice farmers in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The training initiative, which focused on modern and improved techniques of rice cultivation, was held in collaboration with the First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris. The effort is part of a broader agenda to complement the state government’s strides towards achieving sustainable food security and agricultural development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Hon. Maisudan urged participants to take full advantage of the knowledge and skills offered during the program. He emphasized that the training was not only an investment in the farmers but also a step toward ensuring higher yields, improved quality, and long-term self-reliance among local rice producers.

“This workshop is designed to equip you with practical knowledge that can transform your farming practices. I implore you to apply what you have learned in your fields and contribute to our collective goal of agricultural growth,” he said.

Hon. Maisudan expressed appreciation to various partners who made the training possible. He acknowledged the support of the Bulaman Gwandu Foundation, Aisha Bello Ka’oje Cares, Gotomo Farms, and the National Seed Council for their contributions toward the success of the initiative. Their involvement, he noted, highlights the power of collaborative efforts in driving development at the grassroots level.

Also in attendance was the Kebbi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Usman Abubakar Ladan, who lauded the initiative and praised Hon. Maisudan’s commitment to empowering his constituents.

“Hon. Maisudan has proven to be a responsible and proactive representative. His efforts continue to yield tangible benefits for the people of Suru,” he remarked, adding that such initiatives align perfectly with the state’s agricultural development agenda.

The workshop marks another milestone in Kebbi State’s ongoing efforts to promote agricultural excellence and ensure food security through the empowerment of local farmers with knowledge, innovation, and access to resources.
