The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has strongly condemned the recent defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that this move has severely damaged his political standing and reputation among Nigerians.

The protem national coordinator of CP-PDP, Barrister Obinna Nwachukwu, expressed deep disappointment over Governor Eno’s decision, emphasizing that the governor’s once-esteemed image as a man of God and a devoted servant of the people has been irreparably tarnished.

Barrister Nwachukwu elaborated that Governor Eno, who initially assumed office with the goodwill and trust of the people, has now aligned himself with a political faction characterized by arrogance, impiety, and a blatant disregard for lawful conduct.

He described the APC leadership as “arrogant, ungodly, thoughtless and notorious lawbreakers” whose primary aim is the accumulation of power and the misappropriation of resources intended for the welfare of ordinary citizens.

According to Nwachukwu, this association has overshadowed the governor’s previous image and led to a profound loss of respect among his constituents.

The CP-PDP, after an extensive and thorough evaluation of the political climate and Governor Eno’s recent move, found it profoundly regrettable that a man once seen as a spiritual leader and champion for his people would choose to side with President Bola Tinubu, who the group claims “has been widely adjudged to have failed woefully in his mid-term assessment.”

This endorsement of President Tinubu’s administration is viewed by CP-PDP as a misguided alignment that signals a political misstep of significant consequence.

Further emphasizing the consequences of this decision, Barrister Nwachukwu warned that Governor Eno’s defection amounts to political self-destruction.

He stated that by severing ties with the Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Eno has isolated himself from the people of Akwa Ibom State, who predominantly remain loyal to the PDP.

This isolation, according to the conference, marks the governor’s path toward political irrelevance, as he no longer commands the support or solidarity of his base.

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party unequivocally regards Governor Umo Eno’s defection as a grievous mistake that undermines both his personal credibility and his political future.

They reiterated their unwavering support for the PDP and expressed hope that the people of Akwa Ibom State will continue to uphold their allegiance to the party that has consistently championed their interests.
