The upcoming 2027 general election presents a crucial opportunity for the South East to reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria’s strategic political planning. The best move for Ndi-Igbo is to unite behind President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda
A coalition of young professionals from Nigeria’s South East geopolitical zone, operating under the banner of the South East Progressive Ambassadors (SEPA), has pledged their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
According to the group, the President’s “Renewed Hope” agenda is steadily gaining traction in the region, resonating with increasing numbers of people.
In a statement issued in Awka by SEPA’s Convener, Mr. John Ikeotuonye, and its Secretary, Dr. Justin Nwankwo, the group emphasized that failing to support President Tinubu in 2027 would be politically disadvantageous for the South East.
They asserted that the region must seize this moment to secure a meaningful stake in Nigeria’s evolving geopolitical framework.
“The upcoming 2027 general election presents a crucial opportunity for the South East to reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria’s strategic political planning. The best move for Ndi-Igbo is to unite behind President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda,” the group stated.
SEPA highlighted Tinubu’s courage and commitment in addressing key governance issues, particularly those related to fiscal accountability and grassroots development.
They cited his stance on the diversion of public funds by state governments, delays in federal allocations, and his push for enhanced local government autonomy as indicators of visionary leadership.
“President Tinubu has shown a clear willingness to tackle deeply rooted problems that have hampered regional development for decades,” SEPA noted.
Calling for regional solidarity, especially among young professionals and progressive thinkers, SEPA urged stakeholders to move beyond passive politics and actively participate in national discourse.
“We appeal to young professionals across the South East to close ranks, build bridges, and contribute meaningfully to the region’s reintegration and reconstruction. Now is the time to align with a national agenda that promotes inclusion and real development,” the group declared.
To demonstrate Tinubu’s commitment to the South East, SEPA pointed to key developments including: The establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), the appointment of a Special Adviser for Community Liaison in South East states, strategic political appointments of South Eastern indigenes, recent official visits by President Tinubu to every state in the region.
SEPA concluded by expressing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and reaffirmed their resolve to mobilize the region for his 2027 re-election.
“We believe President Tinubu possesses both the vision and the capacity to restructure and revitalize the Nigerian state. The South East must not be caught unprepared. We must position ourselves strategically for partnership and progress under the renewed hope mandate,” the statement concluded.
