The Kaduna Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has officially launched a special operation tagged “Operation Eid-el-Kabir” as part of proactive efforts to guarantee safe and seamless Sallah celebrations across the state.

This initiative, which is scheduled to run from June 5th to 11th, is aimed at ensuring a significant reduction in road traffic accidents, injuries, and fatalities during the festive period.

According to the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Tijjani Iliyasu, the operation aligns with the FRSC’s 2025 Strategic Goals, which target a 5% reduction in road traffic deaths and injuries nationwide.

As part of the comprehensive strategy, the Kaduna Command has deployed a total of 1,593 personnel, including Regular Officers, Road Marshals, and Special Marshals. The operation will be supported by 32 patrol vehicles, 11 ambulances, and other essential logistics to enhance the command’s efficiency and responsiveness on the roads.

Commander Iliyasu emphasized that the operation will focus on curbing prevalent traffic violations typically seen during festive periods. These include excessive speeding, mixed loading of passengers and livestock, use of mobile phones while driving, and lane indiscipline.

He stated that the command will also conduct intensive patrols, operate Mobile Courts, carry out prompt rescue services, and swiftly clear obstructions to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

In addition, the FRSC will strictly enforce traffic regulations, implement traffic calming and control measures, and roll out extensive public enlightenment campaigns to educate road users across the state.

Motorists have been strongly advised to exercise caution, particularly around high-risk areas and diversion points such as Jere, Katari, and Audu Jangwam. Commuters are also urged to board vehicles only from government-approved motor parks and to ensure their names are properly recorded in vehicle manifests for safety and tracking purposes.

Furthermore, the Sector Commander encouraged passengers to speak out against reckless driving and to report any incidents of concern to the FRSC. For any emergencies or road safety issues, the public can reach the FRSC through the following channels: 122 (Toll-Free Line), FRSC Mobile App, National Traffic Radio: 0805 299 8000, 0906 700 0015.

The FRSC Kaduna Sector Command extends its warm wishes to all motorists, commuters, and residents, hoping for a peaceful, safe, and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
