As Muslims in Nigeria and across the globe mark the sacred festival of Eid-al-Adha, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah, praying that the celebration brings peace, love, and unity to the country.
In a goodwill message conveyed through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Senator Akpabio highlighted the profound spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, calling on Nigerians to reflect on the values that define the festival.
“The spirit of Eid reminds us of the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, and kindness,” he noted. “As we honour the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command, we are called to embrace obedience, selflessness, and faith in our daily lives.”
He urged Nigerians, regardless of religious background, to internalise these noble values, which he said are essential for fostering peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding, and national harmony.
Speaking on the broader state of the nation, Senator Akpabio acknowledged the current socio-economic challenges and commended the efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in implementing reforms. He described the ongoing economic and fiscal measures as “difficult but necessary steps” that are beginning to yield positive outcomes.
“I encourage all citizens to remain resilient, hopeful, and united as we work together toward a brighter future,” he added. “This festive period offers us a unique opportunity to reflect, rededicate ourselves to our national values, and renew our collective commitment to building a prosperous Nigeria.”
He also emphasized the importance of promoting interfaith harmony and national development, urging citizens to use the season to bridge divides and strengthen bonds across religious and ethnic lines.
“On behalf of my family, my constituents, the 10th Senate, and the entire National Assembly, I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a joyous celebration. Eid Mubarak,” he concluded.
