The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has praised Governor Adedapo Abiodun for his generous monetary gifts to the players and officials of Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses following their international friendly match in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

The nine-time African champions, Nigeria, secured a 2-0 victory over Cameroon, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade scoring twice—first from a penalty in the 28th minute and then in first-half stoppage time, assisted by Rinsola Babajide.

Post-match, Governor Abiodun awarded N20 million to the Super Falcons and N10 million to the Lionesses, a gesture lauded by NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi as a significant morale booster. “This act of kindness and magnanimity will never be forgotten,” Sanusi said, noting that such incentives inspire athletes to excel.

The financial support is seen as a psychological boost for the Super Falcons as they prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco from July 5-26. Nigeria, in Group B, will face Tunisia on July 6, Botswana on July 10, and Algeria on July 13 in Casablanca.

The NFF pledged to provide a conducive pre-tournament camping environment for the team.
