Defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz delivered a commanding performance to defeat 12th seed Tommy Paul and advance to the semi-finals at Roland Garros on Tuesday.

The second-seeded Spaniard, aged 22, needed just 53 minutes to claim the first two sets, dropping only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 rout. Despite a spirited fightback from Paul in a tighter third set, Alcaraz secured a crucial break to lead 5-4, sealing a 6-4 set and the match.

Alcaraz will now face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, 23, for a spot in Sunday’s final. The eighth seed earned his place with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory over American Frances Tiafoe earlier in the day.

Musetti, appearing in his second career Grand Slam semi-final after reaching Wimbledon’s last four in 2024, overcame a resilient Tiafoe, who was the first American to reach a French Open quarter-final in 22 years. Despite leveling the match by taking the second set, Tiafoe faltered after a hard-fought third set, unable to match Musetti’s elegant yet powerful play.
