The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has strongly refuted claims that the Super Falcons have been sidelined, reaffirming the federation’s steadfast commitment to the team’s success ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In a bid to ensure top-tier preparation, Gusau highlighted the NFF’s organization of high-profile friendly matches, including a clash against Cameroon today and an upcoming fixture with Portugal. “We promise Nigeria that anytime we have an international window, we’ll try and see how we can organize a grade-A match,” he declared, stressing the role of these games in blending seasoned players with emerging stars.

Further bolstering the team, the NFF has enhanced the Super Falcons’ backroom staff and announced early camping sessions to allow ample time for strategy and cohesion. Gusau also unveiled plans to integrate home-based players into the national setup, stating, “We want to start grooming some of our young girls in the league for the Super Falcons,” a move aimed at nurturing domestic talent.

The team’s recent performances have sparked growing corporate interest, with Gusau noting, “Now they see there is potential in women’s football and they have started listening to us to bring in more money to develop women’s football.”
