Adura Olalehin, a former Nigerian boxer turned coach, paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the Kano State Government following the tragic loss of 22 athletes in a road accident on Saturday, May 30, 2025. The contingent was returning to Kano after competing in the 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State when the devastating incident occurred, claiming 22 lives and leaving several others injured.
During his visit, Olalehin met with Kano State Deputy Governor, His Excellency Comrade Aminu AbdusSalam Gwarzo, to express his sympathies and offer support. He extended his condolences to both the state government and the families affected, underscoring the profound impact of the tragedy on the local sports community and the state at large. His gesture highlighted the solidarity of the sports fraternity during this challenging time.

In a show of compassion, Olalehin also visited the families of the deceased and injured athletes, providing each with ₦200,000 in cash support to help ease their financial burdens. He encouraged the families to remain strong, sharing his thoughts on the broader implications of the loss for Nigerian sports.

Olalehin called for continued support for the nation’s sports and youth, pledging his commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring such tragedies do not dim the potential of Nigeria’s athletes.
