FIFA officials arrived in Nigeria to oversee a two-day workshop for chairmen and chief operating officers of the country’s football leagues and premier league clubs. The event, hosted at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, runs from Tuesday, June 3, to Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

The workshop aims to scrutinize the management framework of Nigerian football clubs and leagues, seeking to enhance governance, boost commercial viability, and equip administrators with a global perspective to foster sustainable growth.

Forty representatives from the 20 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs—each sending their chairman and CEO—will join the chairmen and CEOs of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League, and Nigeria Nationwide League One.

NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau will head a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation, accompanied by 2nd Vice President Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye and General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

Leading FIFA’s team is El Hadji Wack Diop, Head of FIFA’s Regional Office for West and Central Africa, alongside experts Rasoamahenina Sanda Manonisoa, Marcos Piccalo, Federico Perez, Javier Sobrino, and Laurent Colette. Colette, a former managing director of Olympique de Marseille, and Sobrino, ex-chief strategy and innovation officer of FC Barcelona, bring top-tier experience.

Each NPFL club is required to present a plan for financial autonomy, leveraging their history and assets to build global brands. Sessions will cover strategic planning, finance, commercial and marketing strategies, and governance.
