The National Examinations Council (NECO) has raised an alert regarding a fraudulent Facebook account falsely created in the name of its Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi.
In an official statement released in Abuja on Sunday, the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Mr. Azeez Sani, disassociated the Council from the deceptive account. He warned that the account was set up with the malicious intent of deceiving and defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
“The Council wishes to draw the attention of the general public to the existence of this fake Facebook account, in order to prevent people from falling victim to the scam,” Sani stated.
He further emphasized that NECO had taken steps to address the situation by notifying security agencies, who have been urged to take appropriate action against those responsible for the fraudulent activity.
NECO urged the public to exercise caution online and to rely only on verified official communication channels for accurate information concerning the Council and its officials.
