On all fronts—economy, human rights, education, diplomacy, security, and governance—Mr. President has delivered and continues to lead with courage and compassion. He is truly the father of a new Nigeria
Hon. Oluwole Oke, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs and representative of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, on Friday, described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the most civil and tolerant leader Nigeria has ever had as he marks two years of leadership.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Oke emphasized that despite facing opposition from various quarters—including rival political parties, members within his own All Progressives Congress (APC), and even critics from his own Southwest geopolitical zone—the President has consistently upheld and respected the fundamental human rights of all Nigerians.
Oke highlighted that, unlike previous administrations, no individual has been subjected to harassment or persecution under Tinubu’s leadership, marking a notable and commendable departure from past governmental practices.
On the economic front, Oke lauded the President’s bold decision to remove the petroleum subsidy. He called this move an act of “economic courage” that decisively broke the grip of entrenched interests that had long benefited from the subsidy system.
According to Oke, the removal of the subsidy has ensured that public revenues are properly channeled into the federation account and are fairly distributed according to constitutional guidelines, thereby enhancing transparency and fiscal responsibility.
Youth empowerment also stood out as a major achievement under the Tinubu administration, according to the lawmaker.
The Osun lawmaker specifically cited the establishment of the Students Loan Fund—a pioneering initiative aimed at improving access to education—as well as the unprecedented appointment of young Nigerians into ministerial and leadership positions within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“No other Nigerian President has matched this feat in youth inclusion,” he stated, underscoring the administration’s commitment to nurturing the country’s future leaders.
On the international stage, Oke pointed to the administration’s success in restoring Nigeria’s credibility and influence. He highlighted President Tinubu’s effective diplomatic engagements, particularly the landmark $2.5 billion agricultural investment secured from Brazil.
This, along with Nigeria’s removal from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) debtor list, signals a renewed confidence in the country’s economic and governance frameworks, reinforcing its standing in global affairs.
Additionally, the ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, according to Oke, reflect a visionary approach to addressing the nation’s security challenges.
Recognizing the complex nature of security, Oke urged citizens to embrace a collective sense of responsibility. “Security is a shared responsibility,” he emphasized, calling on Nigerians to support government efforts to secure the nation.
Oke affirmed that “On all fronts—economy, human rights, education, diplomacy, security, and governance—Mr. President has delivered and continues to lead with courage and compassion. He is truly the father of a new Nigeria.”
This affirmation encapsulates the lawmaker’s strong belief that President Tinubu’s tenure marks a new era of progress and inclusive leadership for Nigeria.
