The final of the 2025 President Federation Cup is most likely going to take place in Lagos, according to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau. Speaking after watching Abakaliki FC defeat Ikorodu City of Lagos at the Bwari Township Stadium, Gusau hinted that the NFF has yet to decide on the venue but expressed a strong likelihood of Lagos hosting the final again.

“We are most likely going to play the final in Lagos. We are still talking with stakeholders and will inform the public when we arrive at a decision. As you can see, we are doing our best to bring back the glamour of the oldest competition in the country,” Gusau stated. He emphasized the NFF’s commitment to bringing value to the Federation Cup, adding that the competition has been rebranded to attract corporate sponsors.

Gusau highlighted the competition’s progress, noting that last year, an NNL side reached the final and won the cup. “The idea is to do our best to bring value to the Federation Cup. As you can see, last year an NNL side got to the final and even won the cup. Now, another NNL club, Abakaliki FC, have reached the final. That is because we are ensuring that the better side wins the cup. We don’t have preferred winners—no favouritism.”

The NFF boss also disclosed plans to attract corporate sponsors to make the Federation Cup more attractive. “Last year, we began the rebranding of the Federation Cup and, as you can see, the glamour is gradually returning. We are working hard with our partners to attract corporate sponsors to make the Federation Cup very attractive. We hope to take advantage of the improvement in the competition to market it and, by the grace of God, you will witness corporate organisations rushing to partner with us.”

Gusau concluded by mentioning that the Federation Cup has good monetary packages for the winners, but he would not divulge whether there will be improved prizes. Last year’s winners, El-Kanemi Warriors FC, received ₦50 million, while the runners-up took home ₦20 million.
