The Niger State Government has embarked on an ambitious drive to transform key sectors, with a strong focus on healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.

As part of its commitment to improving the quality of life for its citizens, the administration, under the leadership of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has initiated wide-ranging projects across the state.

During a press briefing held yesterday, the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Binta Mamman, highlighted some of the notable achievements recorded during the governor’s two years in office.

She revealed that the administration had initiated the construction of 100 standard Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) across the state, with more than 20 of them already completed and inaugurated.

According to her, this initiative forms part of a broader strategy to enhance access to quality healthcare for residents, particularly those in rural and underserved communities.

In addition to the PHCs, Hon. Mamman disclosed that significant efforts have also been directed toward improving tertiary healthcare services.

This includes the construction and refurbishment of tertiary health care centres, the recruitment of additional medical personnel, and the enhancement of healthcare workers’ welfare.

These interventions, she said, underscore the administration’s determination to address the systemic challenges affecting healthcare delivery in the state.

Turning to the education sector, the commissioner emphasized that the Bago administration has placed education at the heart of its development agenda.

“With a vision to make Niger State the ‘Massachusetts of Nigeria,’ the government has invested over ₦1.3 billion in procuring furniture, upgrading learning environments, and prioritising teacher welfare,” Hon. Mamman stated. She added that new teachers have also been employed across the state to strengthen the human resource base of the educational system.

“Two years ago, the Bago administration came into office with a bold vision—to transform Niger State into a modern, economically productive, and socially inclusive entity. Today, we can say, without exaggeration, that the vision is unfolding with purpose and precision,” she remarked, expressing confidence in the administration’s developmental trajectory.

Furthermore, Hon. Mamman provided updates on the government’s ongoing urban renewal and infrastructure development efforts. She noted that massive road construction, bridge works, and strategic urban remodelling projects are currently underway in key urban centres such as Minna, Suleja, Bida, and Kontagora, as well as in various local government areas across the state.

These infrastructural developments aim to enhance urban mobility, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall aesthetics and functionality of the state’s cities.

The Niger State Government’s recent strides in healthcare, education, and infrastructure demonstrate a concerted effort to reposition the state as a model of sustainable development in Nigeria. With continued implementation of these transformative policies and projects, the Bago administration is poised to leave a lasting legacy of progress and inclusive growth.
