Liverpool have finalized the signing of Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for €35 million (£29.5m) on a five-year contract, the Premier League champions announced today. The move comes just hours after the club confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid in time to compete in the Club World Cup.

The 24-year-old versatile right-footer, widely seen as Alexander-Arnold’s replacement in Arne Slot’s squad, arrives after Liverpool activated his release clause.

Frimpong played a key role in Leverkusen’s historic first Bundesliga title in the 2023-24 season and featured in 53 matches across all competitions as the German side finished second in the 2024-25 campaign.

Frimpong will face competition for the right-back position from Northern Ireland’s Conor Bradley, who recently penned a new four-year deal with the Anfield club.
