The Gombe State House of Assembly has unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, in recognition of the significant progress and achievements of his administration as it marks its sixth anniversary.
This demonstration of support reflects the legislature’s strong approval of the Governor’s leadership and the developmental strides made under his tenure.
The development was disclosed by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, during a solidarity visit by members of the state legislature to Governor Yahaya.
The visit took place on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Council Chamber of the Government House, underscoring the legislature’s commitment to celebrating the administration’s milestone.
Addressing Governor Yahaya during the visit, Speaker Luggerewo explained that the vote of confidence followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader and subsequently adopted during plenary on May 27, 2025.
The lawmakers had thoroughly reviewed and acknowledged the Governor’s outstanding leadership and the impressive development milestones achieved across various sectors in Gombe State.
In a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Speaker Luggerewo elaborated: “The House considered a motion to pass a vote of confidence on His Excellency in view of the undeniable achievements of his administration over the past six years. The motion was supported and unanimously passed.”
He emphasized that while the Governor’s statewide anniversary broadcast highlighted key accomplishments, there were several other critical achievements deserving further emphasis, especially the Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM).
The Speaker described DEVAGOM as a visionary blueprint that has propelled Gombe State onto a trajectory of inclusive growth, innovation, and good governance.
According to him, the consistent and effective implementation of DEVAGOM remains one of the defining legacies of Governor Yahaya’s administration, contributing significantly to the socio-economic transformation of the state.
Following the endorsement, Speaker Luggerewo formally presented the resolution to Governor Yahaya, affirming that the entire House stood united in solidarity with the executive branch to celebrate this important anniversary.
He reassured the Governor of the legislature’s unwavering commitment to supporting his policies and programs, which continue to drive sustainable development and progress in Gombe State.
In his response, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya expressed profound gratitude to the House of Assembly for their overwhelming support and vote of confidence.
He described the endorsement as a powerful validation of the shared vision and mutual respect that characterize the relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.
“This vote of confidence by the Honourable House is a validation of the transparency and performance-driven ethos of our government,” the Governor stated. “I sincerely thank you for your support, your collaboration, and your belief in our administration’s agenda for sustainable development.”
Governor Yahaya also highlighted the importance of maintaining harmony and cooperation among the different branches of government, despite the inevitability of political differences.
He stressed that while politics may sometimes bring divergent views, such differences should never undermine the strong and cooperative relationship built over time.
“I assure you of my continued support as we work together to deliver on our mandate,” he affirmed.
The solidarity event was attended by several prominent government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manasseh Daniel Jatau; the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi; the Head of the Civil Service, Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi; as well as other members of the State Executive Council.
Their presence further highlighted the collective spirit of collaboration within the state government as Gombe State celebrates six years of progress under Governor Yahaya’s leadership.
