The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 41 suspects in connection with the brutal lynching of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Baba Ali. Among those apprehended are key individuals believed to have played direct roles in the attack that led to his death.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
According to the statement, the arrests were made following a swift and comprehensive investigation carried out by law enforcement operatives immediately after the incident.
The tragic event occurred on May 26, when CSP Baba Ali was attacked by an enraged mob in Rano Local Government Area. The violent unrest was reportedly triggered by the death of a local motorcycle mechanic while in police custody, which sparked outrage among residents and escalated into the fatal mob action.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, strongly condemned the incident and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that justice is served.
He assured the people of Kano State that every individual involved in the “dastardly act” would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. “We will leave no stone unturned,” he declared.
The Commissioner also praised the courage and professionalism exhibited by the officers and men of the Command throughout the investigation and response.
