Team Oyo delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival, surging to a total of 107 medals, including 33 gold, 31 silver, and 43 bronze.
The women’s abula team, featuring Bolarinwa Funmilola, Aboderin Tobiloba, Apanpa Folake, Ibrahim Oluseyi, Hammed Oladunni, Sobulo Omolara, Adenaike Odunayo, and Nwokocha Precious, clinched gold.
The men’s hockey team, comprising Odedokun Precious, Azeez Abdullahi, Faluyi Ezekiel, Ojo Olawale, Ochayi Emmanuel, Ajibua Olawale, Odedokun Toluwani, Bala Emmanuel, Oladiran Kayode, Usman Ayomide, Olowoyeye Tosin, Ademola David, Oladiran Samuel, Fagbenro David, Olowoyeye Oluwatobiloba, Bello Dolapo, Ahmed Bello, and Ukah Kenneth, also claimed gold.In table tennis, Azeez Wasiu and Okanlawon Kadijat earned a bronze in mixed doubles.
The women’s volleyball team, including Abdulraheem Aishat, Alli Ifeoluwa, Owoniyi Joy, Muhammed Khadijat, Omoshola Sofiat, Usman Aliyat, Mustapha Rafiat, Usman Mariam, Adeyele Favour, Ishaku Patience, and Oni Francisca, secured a bronze. Tobechukwu Emmanuel took bronze in the men’s triple jump, while Ibanga Akpan Akan won bronze in the men’s 57KG full-contact kickboxing.
In scrabble, Adebowale Qamardeen, Kareem Jamiu, and Raji Kazeem captured silver in the men’s team event. Adegboyega Afeez earned silver in the men’s 54KG full-contact kickboxing, and Joseph David secured bronze in the men’s 67KG full-contact kickboxing.
In wrestling, Christiana Ogunsanya won gold in the women’s 53KG freestyle, while Tope Adebayo took bronze in the men’s 70KG freestyle.
