NSF: Team Edo Scoops Medals in Powerlifting, Karate, and Judo

Team Edo delivered a stellar performance at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State, securing a haul of medals in para powerlifting, karate, and judo on Sunday, further solidifying their position as a top contender in the competition.

In para powerlifting, Daniel Omogbai shone brightly in the men’s 107kg category, clinching a gold medal with an impressive 200kg lift, outclassing Obinna from Abia State. Musa Muhammad added a silver medal in the +107kg category, while Hycent Nnaji secured another silver in the 72kg category. Team Edo’s para powerlifting squad concluded the event with a commendable tally of two gold, six silver, and four bronze medals.

In karate, Wilkinson Agbeishoma dominated the men’s +84kg Kumite category, earning a gold medal and bolstering Edo’s medal count in the combat sport.

As the festival progresses, Team Edo is closing in on a top-three spot on the medal table, with high expectations for more victories in their strongholds of boxing, kickboxing, athletics, gymnastics, and cricket.

Today, the boxing competition continues, while wrestling events kick off at the Civic Centre, Obafemi Awolowo Square, Ikenne. Additionally, Team Edo’s men’s handball team has advanced to the semi-finals, raising hopes for further success.
