Governor Dapo Abiodun lauded the exceptional talent and sportsmanship of athletes at the ongoing Gateway Games 2024 during a tour of multiple event venues across Ogun State on Saturday.
The governor began his visit at the Alake Sports Centre, where he watched captivating male and female volleyball matches. He described the athletes’ energy and skill as “truly inspiring,” commending their dedication to the sport.
At the Ijeja venue, Governor Abiodun observed gripping gymnastics, table tennis, and handball events. He praised the young competitors for their determination and remarkable abilities, highlighting the vibrant spirit of healthy competition that defines the games.
The highlight of the day came at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, where the governor witnessed electrifying athletic races. He also presented the gold medal to Team Ogun for their stellar performance in the 4x400m Mixed Relay, calling it “a proud and unforgettable moment for us all.”
