Team Oyo Dazzles at NSF with Impressive Medal Haul

Team Oyo delivered a stellar performance at the ongoing National Sports Festival, securing a total of 13 medals across various events on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The contingent’s remarkable display included four gold, four silver, and five bronze medals, showcasing their versatility and dominance in multiple sports.

Leading the charge, Adeyemi Saheed clinched gold in the Men’s Darts 701 Singles, while Alao Adedolapo earned bronze in the same event. In Kungfu, Usman Mariam secured a silver medal in the Women’s -70KG Shanshou category. The Traditional Ayo Mixed Doubles pair, Seun Aiyedun and Toyin Oyetunde, brought home a bronze medal.

In swimming, Tofunmi Michelle Ibidapo claimed silver in the Women’s 200M Butterfly. Powerlifting saw Osewa Toyosi take silver in the Women’s 55KG category, while Mimo Olabode earned bronze in the Men’s 54KG event.

The Badminton Men’s Team, comprising Babalola Gideon, Mustapha Muhammed, Ibrahim Ahmed Dewo, Kayode Oyeniran, and Usman Mamza, triumphed with a gold medal. Taekwondo proved to be a strong suit for Oyo, with Eniola Ibrahim Aramide and Asimiyu Aminat Ajoke winning gold in the Men’s Featherweight and Women’s Bantamweight categories, respectively.

Ashiru Sodeeq Ibukun secured silver in the Men’s Heavyweight division, while Akolade Azeezat Olabisi and Nzelu Henry Chukwudi earned bronze in the Women’s Heavyweight and Men’s Middleweight categories, respectively.

Team Oyo’s medal count so far is 14 gold, 13 silver and 21 bronze which totals 48 medals.
