Golden Eaglets Soar into Semi-Finals at National Sports Festival

The Golden Eaglets, Nigeria’s five-time world champions, have secured a commanding 5-0 victory over Ebonyi State in the quarter-finals of the football event at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Ogun State, advancing to the semi-finals.

Abdulmuiz Adeleke led the charge, scoring twice after netting the opener in Monday’s 2-1 win against Edo State. Mohammed Imrana, who also scored against Edo, added to the tally but was sent off with a red card late in the match. Destiny Samuel and Emmanuel Ochigbo completed the rout for the Eaglets.

In women’s football, the Flamingos played out a 0-0 draw with Lagos State on Thursday. They top Group B with five points as they head into their final group stage match against Enugu State, who remain pointless, on Friday evening. Delta and Lagos State trail closely with four points each.

In Group A, Osun State leads with seven points, followed by Ogun State with five and Edo State with four.
