Nigerian athlete Chukwuebuka Enekwechi is gearing up for his first appearance in the 2025 Wanda Diamond League season at the fourth installment in Rabat on Sunday, where he will compete in the men’s shot put event.
The 32-year-old, who missed the season’s opening meets in Xiamen (April 26), Shanghai (May 3), and Doha (May 16) due to the absence of the shot put event, will use the Rabat meet to gauge his readiness for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September.
As the reigning African Games champion and two-time African Championship winner, Enekwechi faces stiff competition from 11 top athletes, including two-time world champion Joe Kovacs (USA), multiple world and Olympic medalist Tom Walsh (New Zealand), and 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Rajindra Campbell.
Despite posting a season-best throw of 20.37m, the lowest among competitors, Enekwechi remains optimistic. America’s Steen Roger leads the field with a 21.62m throw.
The Rabat Diamond League will feature 14 events, with eight men’s and six women’s disciplines, promising a thrilling showcase of global athletic talent.
