Lagos Taskforce Arrests 30 Suspected Criminals

The Lagos State Taskforce has successfully apprehended 30 suspected criminals during a coordinated cleanup operation conducted in the Agege area.

This late-night enforcement action, which commenced around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, was strategically focused on several hotspots known for frequent criminal activities.

Among the targeted locations were Isale Oja, the railway line vicinity, and AP Junction—areas that have long been associated with various forms of unlawful behavior, including theft, vandalism, and other disturbances that compromise public safety.

The operation was carried out with the primary objective of enhancing security and ensuring the safety of residents and commuters who traverse these neighborhoods daily.

It reflects the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges posed by criminal elements and reclaiming public spaces for legitimate and peaceful use.

In a public statement shared via social media, Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, confirmed the arrests and assured that all the suspects detained during the raid would be subjected to the full weight of the law.

He emphasized that they would be formally charged in court following the completion of necessary investigations.

It reads, “In continuation of the Lagos State Taskforce Clean-Up enforcement operation to rid the state of criminal elements, the agency set out at about 2200hrs on Tuesday, 20th May, 2025 and embarked on its ongoing cleanup enforcement operation.

“The areas visited during the operation include Isale Oja, the railway line, and AP Junction in the Agege area, where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed, particularly on the rail track.

“During the raid, a total of 30 suspects were arrested and sanity was restored. All suspects will be charged to court accordingly.”

Residents have expressed support for the ongoing crackdown, viewing it as a positive step towards fostering safer communities and restoring confidence in the state’s security architecture.

The Lagos State Government remains resolute in its mission to uphold peace and security through proactive and decisive actions such as this cleanup operation in Agege.
