Kwara United has clinched a place in the President Federation Cup final for the first time in 49 years, defeating Rangers International 1-0 in a thrilling semi-final at Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Wednesday.
Wasiu Alalade proved to be the match-winner, scoring the only goal in the 48th minute, shortly after the second half began. Despite missed opportunities in the first half from Alalade and Yahaya Ibrahim, Kwara United maintained their composure. Rangers piled on pressure late in the game, but goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso’s critical saves ensured the Harmony Boys’ victory.
Head Coach Tunde Sanni hailed the achievement, expressing pride in guiding the team to this milestone. “We’ve fought hard to reach this stage, and we’ll give everything against Abakaliki FC in the final,” Sanni vowed.
