Super Eagles Set for Unity Cup and Russia Friendly

Super Eagles head coach Éric Chellé has named a 25-man squad for the Unity Cup Tournament in London, featuring standout players like Moses Simon, Stanley Nwabali, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ahmed Musa.

The tournament, set for May 27-31 at the 17,250-capacity Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, will see Nigeria face Jamaica, Ghana, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Chellé highlighted the Unity Cup as an opportunity to test new players and strategies ahead of crucial September and October matches. The squad includes notable Nigeria Premier Football League talents like Remo Stars’ captain Junior Harrison Nduka and Enugu Rangers’ Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, alongside international stars like Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Iheanacho.

The tournament kicks off with Trinidad & Tobago versus Jamaica on May 27, followed by Nigeria’s clash with rivals Ghana on May 28, reviving a 74-year rivalry. The third-place match and final will take place on May 31 to crown the Unity Cup 2025 champions.

For the subsequent friendly against Russia on June 6 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, Chelle selected a 21-man squad, including captain William Ekong, Ola Aina, Victor Boniface, and Sadiq Umar, with several players overlapping from the Unity Cup roster.
