The women’s handball event at the 2025 National Sports Festival in Ogun State delivered thrilling action on Day 3 at the Alake Sports Center, with Team Sokoto pulling off a stunning 22–20 upset against Edo State.

The Caliphate side surged to a 12–8 halftime lead and held off a late Edo comeback to claim their first major victory of the tournament.

Elsewhere, Lagos showcased their dominance, dismantling Bauchi 33–13 with a blistering 19–5 first-half performance, solidifying their unbeaten streak with tactical prowess and swift fast breaks.

In a heart-stopping clash, Oyo edged Delta 35–34, overcoming a 13–14 halftime deficit to secure a dramatic win in the final moments.

Host state Ogun also thrilled home fans, overpowering Plateau 35–25. Bolstered by crowd support, Ogun built an 18–12 lead at halftime and cruised to a confident victory, adding to the day’s electrifying handball action.
