The Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, announced that 9,040 athletes and officials have been accredited for the ongoing National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun State.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Olopade highlighted the commission’s efforts to ensure a successful event, noting that all accredited participants are being accommodated at Babcock University.
Olopade praised the impressive participation of states and the enhanced quality of the games compared to previous editions. “In the last 20 years, this is the festival where athletes arrive at their hostel and are provided with food,” he said, emphasizing the smooth logistics and high standards observed.
He cited standout performances, including a top-tier basketball match between Kaduna and Niger, a thrilling handball game between Niger and Kano, and the participation of three London-based boxers representing Kaduna, as evidence of significant improvements.
As Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Olopade commended the Ogun State Government for its commitment to hosting the best biennial sports festival yet. He noted that the opening ceremony received global acclaim. Olopade urged the public to visit the festival venues to experience the high-quality competitions firsthand.
