In a remarkable display of family talent, Ronke Olarinoye and her daughter Florence Olarinoye made their mark in women’s weightlifting at the recent competition.
Ronke, competing in the 45kg category, secured two medals: a gold for her 65kg lift and a silver for her overall total of 140kg, finishing second in her class.
Florence, competing in the 59kg category, claimed a silver medal in total lifts, holding her own against the more experienced Folashade Rafiatu Lawal from Oyo State.
Adding to the family’s legacy, Florence is the niece of Adijat Olarinoye, Nigeria’s gold medalist in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and Ronke’s sister, highlighting the Olarinoye family’s weightlifting prowess.
