The Federal Government Commends Cameroon’s Commitment to Regional Stability Amid Security Challenges
The Federal Government of Nigeria has commended the Republic of Cameroon for its steadfast commitment and continued collaboration in promoting peace, security, and stability across the West African region.
This recognition comes against the backdrop of persistent and evolving security threats posed by insurgent groups, particularly Boko Haram and other armed non-state actors operating within the Lake Chad Basin and the broader Sahel region.
Speaking on the occasion of Cameroon’s 53rd Independence Anniversary, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, conveyed the federal government’s goodwill and appreciation through a formal statement issued in Abuja.
The statement, delivered by Mr. Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the face of shared regional challenges.
”As Cameroon celebrates this significant milestone, Nigeria reaffirms its dedication to deepening the existing bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations.
”We also look forward to continued collaboration within the frameworks of the African Union (AU) and other global multilateral platforms to advance the interests of our peoples and the broader continent.
“Nigeria remains steadfast in supporting Cameroon’s efforts to promote unity, peace and sustainable development,” Tuggar said.
In conclusion, the Minister expressed optimism that with continued unity and strategic partnerships, the region can overcome its current security challenges and build a future marked by prosperity, resilience, and peaceful coexistence.
