Heartbreaking Father urged authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding his son’s death and ensure that those responsible face justice

The father of 27-year-old Daniel Ayama, popularly known as Cruzie Vibes, has publicly called for justice following the tragic and unexplained death of his son in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, May 16, 2025, has deeply shocked the local community, leaving friends, family, and residents mourning the loss of a talented young man.

Daniel Ayama was a student at the Federal University Otuoke and a well-known artiste in Yenagoa’s music scene. In an emotional interview, Mr. Ayama described his son as a “promising young man with dreams and aspirations” whose life was abruptly ended.

Expressing profound grief and frustration, he urged authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding his son’s death and ensure that those responsible face justice. “His life was cut short, and we deserve to know why,” he lamented.

Mr. Ayama also voiced his dissatisfaction with the initial response from local authorities, calling on the police to exhaust every effort in uncovering the truth behind the tragedy. “We need justice for our son,” he insisted.

According to the Bayelsa State Police Command, Daniel Ayama and three others—Peremoboi Anthony (27), Betty Captain Vivian, and Emmanuel Ebanipere (28)—were ambushed while returning from a birthday party.

The assailants reportedly attacked them using an unmarked Hilux vehicle at INEC Junction in Yenagoa. Ayama was fatally shot during the attack, while the other three sustained injuries and were admitted to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa for medical treatment.

DSP Musa Mohammed, Police Public Relations Officer for Bayelsa State, disclosed that an investigation has been launched into the incident, with preliminary suspicions pointing to intra-cult rivalry as the possible motive.

The Anti-Kidnapping Unit recovered a black Toyota Lexus SUV riddled with bullet holes in the Swali area of Yenagoa, which is believed to be connected to the attack.

“The Command is actively working with public-spirited individuals who have provided valuable information to assist in identifying and apprehending the perpetrators of this violent act,” DSP Mohammed stated. “We assure the public that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.”

In solidarity with the Ayama family, civil society organizations, community leaders, friends, and concerned citizens across Bayelsa have rallied for justice.

A peaceful protest has been planned for Friday, May 23, 2025, under the hashtag #JUSTICEFORCRUZIE. The demonstration aims not only to demand a transparent and exhaustive investigation into Daniel’s death but also to call for an end to police brutality and an urgent prioritization of security within the state.
