I must commend you, Governor Adeleke, and your entire team for the phenomenal job you are doing—not only within Osun State but also on the national scene
The Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has expressed high praise for Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and members of his executive council for what he described as commendable and impactful governance.
Gbajabiamila made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Osogbo, Osun State, ahead of his scheduled keynote address at the inaugural annual lecture series organized by Osun State University (UNIOSUN). The visit formed part of his official engagements within the state.
In his address, Gbajabiamila noted that Governor Adeleke had demonstrated a remarkable commitment to governance by prioritising development and cooperation over partisanship.
He stated that Adeleke’s approach to managing the affairs of Osun State and his constructive relationship with the Federal Government underscored a leadership style that placed the welfare of citizens above political differences.
“I must commend you, Governor Adeleke, and your entire team for the phenomenal job you are doing—not only within Osun State but also on the national scene,” Gbajabiamila said. “Your focus on results, rather than political rivalry, is a model of governance that we must all embrace for national progress.”
The Chief of Staff also acknowledged the significant contributions of Osun State to national politics, particularly by highlighting the performance of some of its elected federal legislators. He singled out Hon. Bamidele Salam, who represents Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency and currently serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts.
Gbajabiamila credited Salam’s oversight role as instrumental in uncovering and addressing financial inefficiencies and corrupt practices within federal agencies, thereby assisting the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government in tightening loopholes and promoting fiscal discipline.
Gbajabiamila emphasized that this kind of bipartisan cooperation and professional integrity—where opposition members play a positive role in nation-building—is essential for the success of Nigeria’s democratic process. He lauded Osun State’s political culture for producing individuals who are not only effective at the state level but also actively contribute to national development.
Speaking further on the purpose of his visit, Gbajabiamila revealed that he was in Osun State to deliver a public lecture at the maiden edition of the UNIOSUN Annual Lecture. The theme of his lecture centered on strategies for sustainable funding for education in Nigeria—a sector he described as foundational to the nation’s future prosperity.
Before concluding his remarks, he thanked Governor Adeleke for the warm hospitality extended to him and his entourage, noting that the reception reflected the governor’s personal commitment to openness and collaboration.
The visit and Gbajabiamila’s speech were widely interpreted as a strong endorsement of Governor Adeleke’s administration, with many observers praising the bipartisan spirit and mutual respect that the event exemplified.
