A fire broke out earlier today at the Alake Sports Complex, the venue hosting indoor events for the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta. The blaze originated from a truck delivering diesel to a generator powering the complex.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, as the quick-thinking driver managed to maneuver the truck away from the main venue, minimizing potential damage.
State Fire Service personnel successfully extinguished the fire, though their response was delayed by approximately 45 minutes.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, and the festival continues with heightened safety measures in place.
