Hon. Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, has hailed the National Sports Commission (NSC) and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for delivering an unforgettable opening ceremony at the 22nd National Sports Festival held at Moshood Abiola Stadium.
Dare, a former Youth and Sports Minister, described the event as a “sparkling splendor” and a “combustion of excitement” that captivated attendees and showcased the unifying power of sports. Speaking to the NSC Media Team, he praised the leadership of NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade for their meticulous planning, while commending Governor Abiodun for his relentless efforts in making the festival a reality.
The ceremony drew an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, and several serving governors, underscoring the event’s national significance.
Dare also lauded President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to sports development and fostering national unity, noting that his administration’s support was instrumental to the festival’s success. “The final kudos goes to President Tinubu, who sent quality representation and is building a united Nigeria through investing in sports,” he said.
With over 12,000 athletes from across Nigeria competing, the festival has set a high benchmark for future editions, with Enugu State slated to host the 23rd National Sports Festival.
