Nine Arrested over Livestock Theft, Vandalism, Assault

The newly appointed State Commandant, Mr. Bala Bawa Bodinga, revealed that the arrests were made in different parts of the state in connection with the crimes.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has apprehended nine individuals for various criminal offences, including livestock theft, vandalism of electricity infrastructure, and assault-related fraud.

Addressing the media on the command’s recent operations, the newly appointed State Commandant, Mr. Bala Bawa Bodinga, revealed that the arrests were made in different parts of the state in connection with the crimes.

According to the commandant, seven suspects were apprehended in Danmanomi Village, Gumel Local Government Area, for allegedly vandalising electrical installations. Recovered exhibits linked to the crime are currently in the custody of the NSCDC.

In a separate operation, Adam Hassan from Kantamari Village in Kaugama Local Government Area was arrested for allegedly stealing livestock. Eleven animals were recovered during the operation.

Additionally, Mr. Bodinga reported the arrest of one Hassan Adamu, accused of defrauding and severely injuring Ibrahim Musa of Azama Village in Malam Madori Local Government Area.

Mr. Bodinga emphasized that these successes were recorded within his first two weeks in office, highlighting the command’s renewed commitment to tackling criminal activities in the state. He assured the public that all suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.

He further urged officers across the state to intensify efforts in collaborating with community members to eliminate criminal elements and reduce social vices.

“The Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has tasked us with the responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the nation. To meet this objective, we must forge stronger partnerships with political leaders, traditional rulers, and sister security agencies,” Mr. Bodinga said.

He also called on the residents of Jigawa State to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or disturbances to the nearest NSCDC office or relevant security agencies for swift action.
