Biden’s office disclosed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer on Friday, May 16, after reporting urinary symptoms that led doctors to find a small nodule on his prostate. The cancer has a Gleason score of 9, indicating a high-grade cancer that could spread quickly. However, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective management.

The diagnosis has raised questions about Biden’s health while he was in office. Vice-President JD Vance offered well wishes but questioned whether the American people had a clear picture of Biden’s health during his presidency. “We really do need to be honest about whether the former president was capable of doing the job,” Vance said.

Biden also received a private letter from Britain’s King Charles, who has met Biden several times and is also receiving treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.
