A support group affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), operating under the name Progressive Voters’ Forum (PVF), has expressed strong support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC) for organizing the party’s first-ever National Summit.
The summit, a landmark event in the history of the APC, is scheduled to take place on Thursday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, commencing at 10:00 a.m.
Themed “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” the summit aims to evaluate the performance of the APC-led federal government and provide a comprehensive platform for party leaders to assess the progress made under President Tinubu’s administration.
High-profile dignitaries are expected at the summit, including President Tinubu himself, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, and several APC state governors and their deputies.
Also invited are former APC presidents, all APC lawmakers in the National Assembly, and a range of other prominent stakeholders.
Dr. Olusegun Kenneth, the National Coordinator of PVF, highlighted the importance of the summit during a press statement issued on Sunday.
According to him, the event presents an invaluable opportunity for introspection and strategic planning by APC leadership, especially in preparation for future electoral contests. He emphasized that the summit would help consolidate unity within the party and offer a space for inclusive dialogue among party stakeholders.
Kenneth praised the National Working Committee for the foresight in convening such a gathering, particularly as the Tinubu administration approaches the two-year mark on May 29.
He noted that the summit will help to highlight and publicize many of President Tinubu’s achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda that, in his view, have not received adequate media coverage or recognition due to opposition narratives and political distractions.
“This summit is coming at a very strategic time,” Kenneth said. “It is a chance for the party to showcase its achievements and for delegates to engage constructively on how best to move the country forward. It’s also a moment to renew our commitment to the ideals and promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He encouraged all summit participants to approach the event with open minds and a willingness to engage in constructive discussions that will promote party cohesion and improve public perception of the APC. He further urged party members to welcome new entrants into the party, calling for broader inclusion of diverse political interests.
In addition, Kenneth called on the Nigerian populace to continue to support the Tinubu administration, asserting that the government has, over the past two years, laid solid foundations for progress in critical areas such as the economy, infrastructure, and social welfare. He claimed that these efforts are beginning to yield positive results, including declining inflation and stabilizing prices of basic commodities.
Concluding his remarks, Kenneth expressed optimism about the summit’s potential to strengthen public confidence in the APC and marginalize what he described as “the noisy opposition.” He reaffirmed the PVF’s belief that the Renewed Hope Agenda remains the most viable blueprint for national development and progress.
The PVF’s statement not only lauds the initiative of holding the summit but also portrays it as a pivotal event for reaffirming the party’s leadership, policies, and vision for the future.
