A fire has once again consumed a residential building in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
According to information gathered the incident took place on Friday along Ori-Eni Apapa Ojeomo Road in the Moniya area of Ibadan, resulting in the destruction of properties valued at millions of naira. Fortunately, no lives were lost in the blaze.
Hon. Maroof Akinwande, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the incident on Friday. Akinwande stated, “The fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) were promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.
“Upon arrival, we found that a private residential building consisting of a three-bedroom flat was engulfed by fire.
“We swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. The fire was jointly extinguished with the Federal Fire Service.
“The cause of the fire was due to the overheating of a cooking appliance that had been left plugged in the kitchen unattended, which ignited nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze.
“No casualties were recorded, but properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the fire. The fire service was able to save all the nearby buildings and properties from the devastating flames.”
