The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced a ₦24.5 million prize pool for the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super 6, enhancing financial rewards for all six competing clubs.
The champions will claim ₦10 million, consistent with the past two seasons, while the runners-up will receive ₦6 million and the third-placed team ₦4 million, each up by ₦1 million from last year. Notably, the bottom three teams will now earn ₦1.5 million each, a significant increase from the previous ₦500,000, highlighting the NWFL’s focus on supporting all participants.
“This revised prize structure is a deliberate step to professionalize women’s football and encourage greater investment in clubs,” said NWFL Chairperson Nkechi Obi.
Beyond the financial incentives, the Super 6 winners will secure Nigeria’s sole berth in the WAFU regional qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, with a chance to compete in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Championship in 2026.
As the 2025 Super 6 concludes on May 17 with Matchday 5, Bayelsa Queens, defending champions Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Remo Stars Ladies remain in contention for the title. With four different clubs winning the last four editions, anticipation is high for a thrilling finale.
