Habubakar Umar, a 22-year-old man, was taken into custody by authorities from the Adamawa State Police Command. He is accused of sexually assaulting four children.
On May 14, 2025, the culprit was taken into custody, according to a statement that was issued by the spokesperson for the command, who is known as SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje.
According to Nguroje, the suspect, who currently resides in Rumde Baru, Yola North Local Government Area, and works as a commercial tricycle rider, is accused of engaging in sexual activity with male minors who were between the ages of 8 and 9 years old.
SP Nguroje stated that the arrest was made in response to a complaint that was filed by a parent of one of the victims. The parent stated that the suspect had been hired to transport their children so that they could attend school.
According to him, the suspect took advantage of the situation, enticed the children, and engaged in sexual activity with them that was not normal. He said that the suspect has subsequently admitted to the crime and blamed the devil for his actions. As a result, the suspect has been arrested.
“The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has condemned the act and directed that the case be diligently investigated and charged to court without delay” , according to Police Superintendent Nguroje.
In his statement, he stated that the command is still dedicated to safeguarding the rights of children and urged parents and guardians to remain cautious and report anyone who exhibit suspicious behaviour to the police stations that are located closest to them.
