San Diego Man Accused of Throwing Girlfriend Off Third-Floor Balcony During Heated Argument
A domestic dispute turned deadly in San Diego after a man allegedly threw his girlfriend from a third-floor balcony, killing her. The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, May 12, 2025, in the 500 block of West San Ysidro Boulevard, a residential area near the U.S.-Mexico border.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the victim, 61-year-old Irene Williams, and the suspect, 57-year-old Albert Turner, had been in a romantic relationship for some time. On the evening of the incident, the two reportedly became embroiled in a heated argument inside Williams’ third-floor apartment.
During the altercation, police say Williams began throwing Turner’s personal belongings over the balcony in anger. In response, Turner allegedly became physically aggressive and, in a shocking act of violence, grabbed Williams and hurled her over the balcony railing.
Multiple eyewitnesses in the vicinity reported the incident to 911 at approximately 7:21 p.m., stating that they had seen a man throw a woman from the balcony.
When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they found Williams lying in the building’s courtyard, suffering from severe head trauma and a broken leg as a result of the fall onto the concrete. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, but despite life-saving efforts by medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Albert Turner was arrested at the scene without further incident. He was later booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murder, as well as additional charges including being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating the terms of his probation.
Authorities confirmed that Turner has a criminal history, though the specific nature of his past offenses has not yet been disclosed. Given the gravity of the new charges, he is currently being held without bail.
The San Diego Police Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the case, including conducting witness interviews and reviewing potential surveillance footage from the apartment complex and surrounding area.
Police are urging anyone with additional information related to the case to contact the department’s homicide tip line or San Diego Crime Stoppers.
The shocking nature of the incident has sent ripples through the West San Ysidro community, with neighbors expressing horror at the fatal escalation of a domestic dispute. Advocates for domestic violence victims have once again raised concerns about the prevalence of such incidents and the need for early intervention.
Irene Williams’ death is the latest in a troubling pattern of intimate partner violence that continues to claim lives across the United States. Local support organizations have reiterated calls for individuals in abusive relationships—or those who suspect someone may be at risk—to seek help before a situation turns tragic.
