Nasarawa United forward Anas Yusuf has praised head coach Salisu Yusuf for his pivotal role in steering the club away from relegation in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The seasoned coach, who took charge during the second half of the season, transformed the team’s fortunes, guiding them from 18th to a remarkable ninth place with 52 points.
In an interview with Completesports, Anas lauded Salisu’s expertise and leadership, stating, “Salisu Yusuf is an exceptionally good coach. He knows the job inside out and brings out the best in his players. He treats us like his own children, inspiring us to give more than 100 percent in every match.”
Anas, the team’s leading scorer with 17 goals, expressed pride in contributing to this “monumental” achievement, noting that his goals would have meant little without the team’s survival.
“We’re thrilled to have retained our NPFL spot, and we give God all the glory,” Anas added. “Climbing from 18th to ninth in such a tough league is no small feat.”
Nasarawa United, known as the Solid Miners, will face Rivers United in their final match of the season, aiming to cap off their impressive turnaround.
