Nigeria is set to host the inaugural World Athletics Africa Road Running Conference, with the National Sports Commission (NSC) announcing the formation of a high-profile Organizing Committee led by Chief Solomon Ogba, First Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).
The committee, carefully selected for their expertise, includes prominent sports administrators and professionals from both the sports and corporate sectors. Notable members include Mr. Segun Ogunleye, Mrs. Oge Kasie-Nwachukwu, and Mr. Danladi Verheijen from corporate Nigeria, alongside seasoned sports figures such as Ms. Otonye Iworima, Mr. Yusuf Ali, and Mr. Kunle Solaja, with Mr. Israel Iwang serving as Secretary.
NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko highlighted the committee’s caliber, stating, “Their professionalism and proven qualities will ensure a landmark conference, the first of its kind in Nigeria.” He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver an event that showcases Nigeria’s growing prominence in global sports.
Hon. Bukola Olopade, NSC Director General, described the conference as a pivotal moment for Nigerian sports development. “Hosting this event opens doors for more international competitions and reinforces our commitment to advancing sports in Nigeria,” he said.
