Nigeria made history by hosting the prestigious FIVB Level 3 Coaching Course in Abuja, with 26 candidates from seven countries participating, according to Martin Melandi, Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).

The intensive course, held from May 4 to 11, saw five Nigerians among the 11 candidates certified as elite Level 3 FIVB coaches.

Melandi revealed that the participants included 13 from Ghana, seven from Nigeria, two from India, and one each from Cameroon, Zambia, Gambia, and Kenya. Notably, two female coaches were among the candidates.

The course, led by top instructors Coach Peter from Germany and assistant instructor Coach Atangana from Cameroon, combined rigorous theoretical presentations and practical demonstrations.

Candidates were assessed on their ability to train players in specific roles, with 11 earning the coveted Level 3 certification.

“This is a significant achievement for Nigeria, as Level 3 is the highest FIVB coaching certification, qualifying coaches to serve as international instructors and consultants,”.

The success of the course further cements the legacy of NVBF President, Engineer Musa Nimrod, who has achieved another milestone in advancing volleyball in Nigeria and beyond.
