The management of Century Home Hotel in Owhelogbo community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Iboirode, has admitted to the savage murder of a 22-year-old POS operator, Onoriode Bethel.

Earlier at April, IREPORT247NEW reported that pastor Ogofotha lodged at the Century Home Hotel in the Owhelogbo neighborhood after arriving in Otowe late. He then settled in, with the expectation that he would be able to wake up the next day to attend burial ceremony.

Sunday, however, could not survive as he did not make it out alive.

The investigation had caught the attention of the community vigilance group, which smashed the door of a specific room with force and entered it to discover a gruesome scene: the dead body of Sunday, tied to the bed, with many stab wounds all over his body.

The hotel owner, Joseph Ogbole, the hotel manager, Iboirode, the security guard, and two other members of the staff were taken into custody after the incident was reported to the Delta State Police Command.

It was reported by a member of the community that the hotel had served as a safe haven for individuals who were suspected of kidnapping and murdering others.

“Pastor Sunday is not the only victim of their murder. Sometime last year, there was a story of a POS girl named Bethel who was said to have been killed in that hotel, too. Only God knows how many other people have innocently lodged there and fallen victim to them,” according to source.

The police said that during their investigation of Iboirode’s residence, they discovered a POS machine that belonged to the girl they suspect to be Bethel.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He revealed that the suspect murdered Bethel and buried her body within the hotel premises.

Edafe further disclosed that the suspect demanded a ransom from Bethel’s father, using her POS machine to collect the money after coercing her into revealing the password. After obtaining the funds, the suspect killed her.

He added that Bethel’s remains have since been recovered.

Edafe said, “If we remember the Owhelogbo hotel murder case, where a POS of a missing girl was recovered from the manager of the hotel. On a very sad note, he has confessed that he murdered the girl who owns the POS.

“She only went to ask the hotel manager for her money, and he murdered her because, according to him, she spoiled his reputation. He killed her and used her phone to call her father, demanding ransom. He even used her POS to collect the money, extracted the password from the girl before killing her. Her remains have been recovered.”
