Everton Football Club has announced that Goodison Park, its historic 132-year-old stadium, will become the new home for Everton Women, abandoning earlier plans to demolish the site. The decision follows the club’s move to a new 53,000-seat arena at Bramley-Moore Dock this summer.

Previously, Everton’s former ownership had outlined an £82m post-demolition redevelopment plan for Goodison, which included housing, a care home, retail units, and a park. However, after The Friedkin Group’s takeover in December, a feasibility study prompted the club to retain the 39,572-capacity stadium as the largest dedicated women’s football venue in the UK.

Everton emphasized its commitment to the women’s game, stating, “This long-term vision ensures Goodison Park remains a vital part of football and the community, providing Everton Women with a world-class platform in Liverpool 4.”

The move offers fans a chance to experience a new era at one of football’s most iconic venues, with ambitions to build a team capable of competing for major honors.

CEO Angus Kinnear highlighted the stadium’s significance, saying, “Goodison is treasured not only by Evertonians but by the game itself. Keeping this iconic stadium at the heart of our legacy project is incredibly important.”

Everton Women have played at Walton Hall Park since 2020, a smaller venue with a 2,200 capacity, only 500 of which are seated, and a hybrid pitch. The transition to Goodison Park marks a significant upgrade for the team and its supporters.
