George Aluo, Chairman of the Nigeria National League (NNL), has lauded the professionalism and impartiality of referees officiating matches in the country’s second-tier league over the weekend.

The referees’ stellar performance contributed to fair outcomes across various match venues, boosting confidence in the league as the 2024/2025 season nears its conclusion.

Aluo highlighted the referees’ unbiased officiating, which enabled notable away victories, including Sporting Supreme’s 3-2 win against Basira FC, Sporting Lagos’ 3-2 triumph over Abakaliki FC, and Smart City’s 2-0 victory at Ijele FC. “Our referees handled all matches professionally without fear or favor,” Aluo said, urging them to sustain this standard to ensure the emergence of worthy champions.

The NNL chairman also praised the monitoring team established by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau for their vigilance. Aluo noted that the team’s presence at match venues ensured referees remained diligent, aware that any misconduct would face severe consequences from the NFF.

“The NFF monitoring team’s commitment made a significant impact,” Aluo stated, emphasizing their role in upholding the integrity of the league’s officiating.
