Eight members of the House of Representatives defected from their parties in a dramatic shift. Six lawmakers from Delta State left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), while two Enugu State representatives joined the PDP from the Labour Party.

Delta State Lawmakers Defecting to APC: Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi) -Longest-serving member of the House and Leader of the Southern regional caucus, representing his constituency since 1999.

Julius Pondi (Burutu)
Victor Nwokolo (Ika North and South)

Enugu State Lawmakers Defecting to PDP:

Mark Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South)
Dennis Agbo (Igbo Eze North/Udenu)

The defectors cited unresolved party crises and parallel leadership as reasons for switching parties, seeking a more conducive platform to represent their constituents.

This development follows a trend of defections in Nigerian politics, with some lawmakers seeking better opportunities or fleeing internal party conflicts
