With this development, the Delta State House of Assembly is now fully an APC House.

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Guwor, and 21 lawmakers formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday.

During a plenary session, Guwor announced the receipt of letters from the lawmakers declaring their intention to leave the PDP, followed by his own announcement.

The decision to defect was reportedly unanimous, driven by unresolved divisions within the PDP’s South-South Zonal Executive and the escalating crisis at the national level.

Guwor declared, “With this development, the Delta State House of Assembly is now fully an APC House.”

This mass defection marks a significant turning point in Delta State politics, shifting the legislative power structure and further weakening the PDP’s longstanding dominance.

The defection follows earlier high-profile defections, including those of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
